**TDK METRO TERMINALS “NEW” SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT**

Dear Valued Customers and Industry Partners,

TDK METRO TERMINALS, in compliance with SOLAS VI/2 VGM requirements effective July 1st 2016, is pleased to announce, the value added service of Verified Gross Mass (VGM) scaled ticketing. (For details regarding SOLAS VI/2 VGM Regulations please scroll down)

How does this work?

1) Full Container Load (FCL) Scaling:

-TDK will scale individual containers in a fast efficient manner without the hassle of subtracting tare weights or disconnecting of any other transport equipment. (i.e. tractor / chassis). This process will save time and money and increase efficiency and accuracy versus the conventional ground scale method.

-Once scaled, TDK will provide emailed VGM document, inclusive of container number, directly to the customer. (No more waiting for driver to send details when time is of the essence)

2) Less than Container Load (LCL) scaling

-TDK will provide VGM for individual LCL cargo with a platform scale able to weigh cargo up to 20,000 lbs

-once scaled, TDK will provide VGM cargo receipt which will be emailed directly to the customer

**SOLAS VI/2 REQUIRED VGM**

Effective July 1st 2016, Transport Canada in conjunction with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will be adopting the amendments to the SOLAS VI/2 (Safety of Life at Sea) regulation which states:

-New amendments require the shipper of a packed container to provide, in a signed shipping document, the container’s verified gross mass (VGM)

-The shipper must determine VGM using one of two methods:

Method 1: When a container is packed and sealed, the shipper may weigh, or have arranged that a third party weigh it

Method 2: The shipper or, a third party arranged by shipper; may weigh total of all cargo, dunnage, securing material + addition of container tare weight.

*5% variation in VGM of loaded container is applied as a threshold for compliance and enforcement purposes but no more than 500 kgs. (This is to allow for blocking, bracing and other minor discrepancies)

**ALL SCALES WILL BE CERTIFIED**
